Natural Ways to Support Your Lungs During Pneumonia Season
Seasonal transitions often trigger a rise in respiratory illnesses, and pneumonia is one of the more serious concerns. In this episode of On The Move with Dr. Beth, Dr. Beth breaks down what pneumonia actually is, why it can become dangerous, and what natural approaches may help support the body through recovery.
Below, we introduce the episode—and provide the full transcript for easy reference.
Understanding Pneumonia: What’s Really Happening in the Lungs
Pneumonia occurs when fluid builds up in the lungs, making it difficult for oxygen and carbon dioxide to exchange properly. This fluid accumulation can stem from either viral or bacterial infections. Because it disrupts breathing, pneumonia is considered a potentially serious health issue, and early awareness is key.
As Dr. Beth explains, when the lungs become inflamed, the body naturally produces mucus. But thick mucus can worsen congestion and slow recovery—so thinning it becomes a crucial step.
Natural Ways to Support Pneumonia Recovery
Dr. Beth highlights several helpful strategies:
1. Strengthen the Immune System
Nutrient and antioxidant support can make a meaningful difference. Consider:
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin C
- Garlic
- Oregano
- Zinc
- Nano silver
These support the body’s ability to fight infection and reduce inflammation.
2. Thin the Mucus
Breaking down mucus helps the body expel it more effectively.
- Sambucus Intrinsic – A formula Dr. Beth recommends for mucus thinning
- Myrrh Intrinsic – Supports overall lung health
- NAC (N-acetylcysteine) – Helps loosen mucus and boosts glutathione
3. Explore Salt Therapy
Salt caves offer natural respiratory support through dry salt aerosol, which may help:
- Reduce inflammation
- Loosen mucus
- Improve breathing
They can be especially beneficial for pneumonia recovery, asthma, and general lung health.

Welcome to another edition of On The Move with Dr. Beth. Today, we’re talking about pneumonia. I’m seeing some cases going around right now with the change in seasons.
Pneumonia is essentially fluid in the lungs. When there’s fluid in there, the proper exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide can’t take place. Pneumonia is typically viral or bacterial, and it can really be a red-alert situation, so you want to stay on top of it and keep an eye out for symptoms.
What’s happening in pneumonia is that your body is producing mucus as a response to inflammation, and we want to thin that mucus. When mucus becomes thinner, the body can expel it—usually by coughing it out—which is exactly what we want.
Support for Pnemonia
There are several things you can do to support your immune system: an anti-inflammatory diet, vitamin D, vitamin C, garlic, oregano, zinc—even nano silver can be helpful.
Some things that can help: Sambucus. There’s a great formula called Sambucus Intrinsic that helps thin mucus. Myrrh—especially Myrrh Intrinsic—is also great for lung health. And you’ve heard me talk about NAC before: N-acetylcysteine, an amino acid that supports lung function.
Another thing that’s great for overall lung health is visiting salt caves. I don’t have a specific referral for you right now, but salt caves can be really beneficial for asthma, lung issues, and even pneumonia. Just be mindful of the people there and your own condition.
I just wanted to make you aware of some supportive things you can do so you don’t head down the road of needing more advanced intervention.
